kitty-climb

It all started with a stuffed animal, L has slowly added many stuffed animals to his crib collection. Not something I’m especially thrilled about, however, Luke allows it. Every morning, each animal ‘climbs’ out of the crib (along with his blankets) and goes downstairs with him. Little did we know that this ‘kitty climb’ routine would teach L to also climb out of his crib. So after a few incidents, I knew it was time for a big boy bed.  We’ve   I’ve decided to go the twin bed route. So those of you that have read or browsed my blog know that my passion deep down is interior design, I live for this kind of stuff but unfortunately I’m not able to knock any walls down, or anything fun like that. So this gives me two challenges. 1) Not knowing the gender of the new baby… who will share a room with L. and 2) not owning a home currently (no painting walls or trim, oh and let’s not forget about the horrid lighting).

Of course what does every mom/blogger do when needing inspiration? Pinterest, duh. I didn’t really find a lot of cute boy room inspiration on Pinterest, but I did pin my goole search findings. I’m not a fan of the truck/dinosaur/animal themes that give the ‘bed in a bag’ feel to a room….I wanted something fun that he can grow with. When pinning, I decided that I would pretend that I’m having girl– so the hardest design dilemma will be out of the way.

Here are some of my inspiration pics

At this point I’m a little confused as to how much color I want in the room. I’m drawn to the color and lack of color in all pictures. We ended up finding a jenny lind twin bed on craigslist for cheap. I like the antique look of the wooden frame, but I know with what I have to work with in his room, I can’t achieve the first picture very well. Since it’s just the in laws house, I’m sure we could pain the walls a lighter color which would help give the room the illusion of better lighting.

I thought it would narrow it down and then let L help me pick. But unfortunately the sheets he really likes are on back order until August and apparently fairly popular.

So here’s what we’ve got so far:

I think once I decide to paint his bed (white or no paint) then I will have a better idea on which direction to go! So do you think I should paint the bed 2nd and 3rd pic) or not (1st pic)?

I could go either way really. I like unpainted but that’s because I’m a sucker for vintage finds in their natural state but for a littles room it might be more fun to paint…but maybe not since you want them to grow with it…Yeah, I’m not any help! But I love your inspiration pics, amazing!
